It is a thirteen hour flight from London to Singapore, and the weary Pharts arrive at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Robertson Quay, around 7am. They are able to check in, have a shower and wander down the road for breakfast.
Chinatown is a short distance on the Singapore MRT system, very cheap and efficient. We check it out, but it’s mainly cheap food and tacky souvenirs. We wander through the Maxwell Food Hawker court, which is very busy. Today is a public holiday in Singapore .. Vesak Day .. a Buddhist festival day.
